Family Service Senior Leadership
Bob Pekar, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
President & Chief Executive Officer
With more than 28 years of experience in the human services field, 20 of which have been with Family Service, Mr. Pekar is extremely dedicated to improving services for the most vulnerable members of our community. He is responsible for the continued development and integrity of over 57 diverse programs that positively impact the lives of thousands of troubled children, adults and families with serious and persistent mental illness and developmental and behavioral challenges.
According to Bob, each day at Family Service is new, exciting and challenging. He adds, “I am always aware of the call for help from those we serve. I regularly encourage our staff, at all levels, to ‘think outside the box’, to use their sensitivity and creativity in the delivery of services and to never forget that innovation, humor and play are the keys to success.”
Mr. Pekar is a member on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties and sits on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health Agencies (NJAMHA).
Qindi Shi, MBA, CNE
Chief Financial Officer
Qindi Shi received her MBA from Syracuse University in 1991 and joined Family Service immediately afterwards. She administers all aspects of the Agency’s financial operations including contract negotiations, budgets, property financing, investments and cash managements, and oversees all accounting departments. In her 17 year tenure, she has been instrumental in growing the Agency’s budget from $4.4m to more than $38m.
In addition to fiscal responsibilities, Qindi oversees MIS and IT operations and LAN/WAN connections for over 40 sites, 400 computers, and 500 users. She also serves as the Agency’s 403(B) Plan Administrator. Her expertise is well recognized on a statewide level. She is a member of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health Agency’s (NJAMHA) CFO Practice Group.
Her personal goal, says Qindi, is to ensure that every deal is the best deal for the benefit of consumers, staff and the Agency. The bottom line is really about meeting the needs of the people in our care.
Mike Snyder, M.S.W., L.S.W.
Chief Operating Officer
Mike Snyder is responsible for the day to day operations of over fifty diverse programs and services supported by the Agency, and more than 740 full and part time staff. His expertise includes nearly thirty years of executive management in creating programs to effectively meet the needs of mentally ill and developmentally disabled youth, adolescents and adults.
Also, Mr. Snyder serves on numerous board and advisory groups influencing the mental health community in an effort to improve the lives of those served.
Sheri Bell
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Responsible for the growth and care of more than 740 employees, Sheri Bell provides the overall strategic Human Resource leadership to the agency. She has twenty years of experience in the field, 15 of which have been with Family Service, including social work experience in other agency programs. In addition, she is SPHR certified and a member of SHRM.
Ms. Bell oversees the development and implementation of human resources policies, staff development, recruitment and retention; employee relations and benefits. One of her main priorities is to ensure the workplace environment is consistent with the values and mission of Family Service.
