Children's Residential Services
Children's residential services focus on stabilizing children, preventing abuse and neglect, and helps forge new families that provide safe and loving environments for the children placed in our care.
Gentle Harbor for children age 5 - 11, who were recently discharged from a psychiatric hospitalization or who display severe emotional disturbances. They receive individual, group and family therapy. Psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring and full medical care complete the therapeutic milieu. A behavior modification system is implemented to encourage and support positive behaviors and social interactions. The average length of stay is six to nine months.
Laurel Landing serves severely emotionally troubled youth between the ages of 11 and 17 most of whom where recently discharged from an in-patient hospital unit. The program provides individual, family and group therapy in order to stabilize the youth and improve family dynamics. A specific treatment plan is developed creating goals focusing on psychiatric, medical, behavioral, psychological, social and family needs. The average length of stay is six to nine months.
Stepping Stone provides community based living for emotionally troubled female adolescents. The program focuses on addressing issues related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), building healthy self-esteem, positive peer and adult relationships and provides skills for self-sufficiency. Services include individual, family and group therapy, psychiatric and medical services are also provided. The average length of stay is projected at eighteen months.
Florence Klemmer Alternative House is a residential treatment program designed to provide psychological/ psychiatric services, individual and group counseling and life skills services for young men ages 13-18 who are transitioning from a secure facility to a community based less secure environment. Weekly individual and group counseling sessions are conducted by the Case Manager to address issues facing these young men, such as anger management, drug and alcohol, legal, gang violence and education. Recreational activities designed to build self-esteem in children are individually developed. Residential Counselors teach social skills and personal care skills on a weekly basis. Treatment plans are developed with child's input to build appropriate behaviors in each child's social, emotional, behavioral, academic, health, family and discharge areas. Family visitation is held weekly and strongly encouraged.
