For more than forty years, Family Service,
a private, non-profit provider of services has worked to build
healthy communities one child, one adult and one family at a
time. Today, over 50 carefully developed, innovative and culturally
sensitive programs impact more than 14,000 individuals throughout
nine counties in central and southern New Jersey.
Every day, Family Service offers hope to thousands of men and
women, children and families, by supporting each person's effort
to achieve a better quality of life.
Family Service staff advocate on behalf of families, working
in partnership with them to identify areas that need strengthening,
increasing each person's potential to make healthy choices.

Bob
Pekar, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
President & CEO
With more than 26 years of experience in the Human Services
field, 18 of which have been with Family Service, Mr. Pekar is
extremely dedicated to improving services for the most vulnerable
members of our community. He is responsible for the continued
development and integrity of over 57 diverse programs that positively
impact the lives of thousands of troubled children, adults and
families with serious and persistent mental illness.
According to Bob, each day at Family Service is new, exciting
and challenging. He adds, “I am always aware of the call
for help from those we serve. I regularly encourage our staff,
at all levels, to think ‘outside the box’, to use
their sensitivity and creativity in the delivery of services
and to never forget that innovation, humor and play are the key
to success.”
Mr. Pekar chairs the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Camden
and Gloucester Counties and sits on the Board of Trustees for
the New Jersey Association of Mental Health Agencies (NJAMHA).
Qindi
Shi, MBA, CNE
Chief Financial Officer
After receiving her MBA from Syracuse University in 1991, Qindi
Shi joined Family Service. During this period the Agency budget
grew from $4.4m to more than $24m.
Originally from the Jiangsu Province in China, Ms. Shi received
her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Nanjing University.
Responsible for the all aspects of the Agency’s financial
operations, management information systems and facilities management,
Shi also has primary responsibility for contract negotiations.
Ms. Shi’s expertise is recognized on a state-wide level.
She is a member of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health
Agencies (NJAMHA) CFO Practice Group and sits on New Jersey’s
Contract Reform Task Force.
Mike
Snyder, M.S.W., L.S.W.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Snyder is responsible for the day to day operations of over
fifty diverse programs and services supported by the agency,
and more than 740 full and part time staff. His expertise includes
nearly thirty years of executive management in creating programs
to effectively meet the needs of mentally ill and developmentally
disabled youth, adolescents and adults.
Also, Mr. Snyder serves on numerous board and advisory groups
influencing the mental health community in an effort to improve
the lives of those served.
Erin
MacCord, M.A.
Senior Vice President of Development
With many years of experience in community relations and non-profit
development, Ms. MacCord is excited to continue increasing awareness
about Family Service programs and build stronger relationships
within the community.
Ms. MacCord will be responsible for overseeing fundraising,
marketing, media relations, special events and new Program Development
Campaigns for Family Service.
Sheri Bell
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Responsible for the growth and care of more than 740 employees,
Ms. Bell provides the overall strategic Human Resource leadership
to the agency. She has twenty years of experience in the field,
15 of which have been with Family Service, including social work
experience in other agency programs. In addition, she is PHR
certified and a member of SHRM.
Ms. Bell oversees the development and implementation of human
resources policies, staff development, recruitment and retention;
employee relations and benefits. One of her main priorities is
to ensure the workplace environment is consistent with the values
and mission of Family Service.
